A few weeks ago, we had reported that Electronic Arts had announced Wing Commander Arena for Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA). Now they have stated that the game will come this Wednesday to XBLA. Along with Wing Commander Arena, Super Contra is the other game that will be offered to Xbox 360 gamers.
Wing Commander Arena is set in the year 2071 and sees gamers form an elite flying squadron to combat the enemy armada of the Kilrathi Empire. It has four modes of gameplay, nine maps and features the first 16 player multiplayer combat on Xbox LIVE Arcade. Gamers can choose from 18 different ships that can be customized as well as earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore.
As for Super Contra, gamers assume the role of Bill Rizer or Lance Bean. The XBLA version has an updated look and feel as Xbox 360 gamers battle through several risky missions either solo or in two player co-op mode, just like in the original. In Super Contra, gamers can earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore.
Wing Commander Arena and Super Contra will release on July 25, 2007 on the Xbox Live Arcade. Wing Commander Arena will cost 800 Microsoft Points while Super Contra has been priced at 400 Microsoft Points. I think I will be playing Super Contra as it is one game that has good graphics as well as gameplay!
