Starfield: 15-Minute Gameplay Video Reveals New Details

Starfield

The 2022 Xbox Games Showcase was highlighted by a 15-minute gameplay video by Bethesda about its upcoming sci-fi epic Starfield. Studio head Todd Howard provided crucial details about the game while showing off the never-before-seen footage.

Howard referred to Starfield as “an epic role-playing game where you get to be who you want, and go where you want… but this time, you’ll be exploring space.” The video reveals that the game begins on the desolate and mysterious moon of Kreet.

As the player character lands, they are escorted out by a robot giving them information about who inhabits the place. They then explore the local flora and fauna before discovering a structure that has been overrun by pirates.

Starfield’s combat is on showcase during a long gunfight with these pirates. The gameplay also reveals that players will be able to navigate using jetpacks.

Another part of the video takes place in a city named New Atlantis where you are invited to join a space exploration society called Constellation. This is one of the many story arcs that the game will allow you to explore.

Starfield has also gone big on player customization, giving you minute tools to create your own character. Dense skill trees and a deep weapon crafting system have also made their way into the game, apart from the ability to build outposts and hire characters to maintain them. Lastly, you can also build your own spaceships, fly them around and even engage in combat.

Starfield was supposed to release in November this year but it’s now scheduled for a May 2023 launch. The action RPG was originally meant for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC but following the sale of Bethesda owner ZeniMax Media to Microsoft, its release on the PlayStation console has been cancelled for now.
