Ghost of Tsushima Now Fastest Selling First Party Original

Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima was expected to break records given the massive buzz it had generated months prior to its launch and that’s exactly what’s been happening since it hit store shelves in July. After soon becoming Sony’s fastest-selling new PS4 IP, the game has now gone on to become the PS4’s fastest-selling first-party original game. It has done that by selling 5 million copies since its debut in July this year.

PlayStation Worldwide Studios head Hermen Hulst made this announcement through his Twitter account while congratulating Sucker Punch on the achievement. Back in August, Sony had revealed that Ghost of Tsushima was the fastest-selling new IP for the company after it had sold more than 2.4 million copies within just the first three days of its launch. But this new achievement is a far better one for Sony.

The open-world action-adventure was also recently blessed with a new Legends mode through an update that also granted it a new game plus mode. Legends adds a multiplayer flavor to the game with its series of missions that players can take on solo or as part of a four-person online squad. Ghost of Tsushima is also playable on the PS5 thanks to the Game Boost feature of the console that allows it to run at up to 60fps and significantly decreases load times.

The game puts you in the shoes of a samurai named Jin Sakai, who’s on a quest to protect Tsushima Island during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. Its gameplay involves frenzied sword-based combat as well as stealth elements, apart from the ability to explore the gorgeous open world on horseback.

If you own a copy of Ghost of Tsushima for the PS4, you can directly start playing it on your brand new PS5 and the Game Boost technology will take care of the rest.
