Lumines makes its PC Debut on WildTangent

Lumines WildTangent announced the PC launch of Q Entertainment’s award-winning puzzle game, Lumines, on the WildTangent Games Network. The PC version of Lumines now makes its online debut exclusively on WildTangent at their official website and it sure doesn’t lose out on any of the challenges and excitement from the console version of the game.

Lumines is another addition to the WildTangent catalogue of more than 450 games from nearly 200 developers. Q Entertainment is a Tokyo-based company which was founded in 2003 by the main creator of Lumines, Tetsuya Mizuguchi and industry veteran Shuji Utsumi. Q Entertainment creates, produces and consults in digital entertainment content across multiple game consoles PC broadband and mobile units.

Lumines is a block dropping game that is quite similar to games like Columns and Tetris. The objective of the game is to rotate and align the blocks by creating 2×2 squares of the same colour, which may span multiple blocks and share block too. After the ‘timeline’ sweeps over the matching blocks, they disappear but when too many unmatched blocks pile up to the point where no more blocks can be dropped in the playing field, the game ends.

Bonuses are awarded by reducing all remaining tiles to one single colour or for removing all non-active tiles from the screen altogether. Lumines indulges the fusion of puzzle play, stylish visuals and upbeat music from a variety of genres that are dynamically synched with gameplay. The game was originally released on the PSP (PlayStation Portable) and later on the PlayStation 2, Xbox LIVE Arcade and mobile devices. It offers up to 40 different skins and five single-player modes to keep players asking for more. The additional features that Lumines include are Skin Edit mode, where you can create your own playlist with your favourite skins that you have unlocked, the Time Attack mode where your have to erase as many blocks as you can in a given amount of time and the Puzzle/Mission mode where you have to use a bit of strategy in creating specific shapes. The audio and graphics are on par with the enthusiast category, The PC version of Lumines is easy to learn and can be played with a simple mouse click.

Lumines can be purchased for $19.99 (approx Rs.780) that can be paid on a per-session basis using the company’s WildCoins arcade-style payment system or can be played for free when sponsored by Wild Tangent’s advertisers. The game is rated “E” for everyone by the Entertainment Software Rating Board [ESRB].
