Square Enix has revealed the release dates for two new downloadable titles for WiiWare, Bubble Bobble Plus! and Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! from Taito. Bubble Bobble Plus! will release on April 10, 2009 while Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! will be released sometime in May.
John Yamamoto, president and CEO of Square Enix said, “Whether playing for the first time or reliving fond memories, Bubble Bobble Plus! and Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! are two colorful new additions to WiiWare that will provide fun for all ages.”
Bubble Bobble was released in 1986 for the arcades. In Bubble Bobble Plus! the twin bubble dragons Bub and Bob are reunited, to delve into the cave of monsters with the goal of rescuing their girlfriends. Taking classic arcade inspiration, the game insists players must manipulate bubbles, solve the hidden mystery in each round and battle the final boss.
Bubble Bobble Plus! features 200 rounds in Standard Mode and Super Standard Mode. Players are invited to explore all-new maps and defeat new bosses with the 200 rounds in Arrange and Super Arrange Modes. The game features a four-person multiplayer option and the chance to vie for the highest scores around the world in Ranking Mode. Also players will be able to download two Expert modes which provide 100 extra rounds.
In Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! the twin heroes take human forms, Bubby and Bobby and set out to climb to the top of Rainbow Tower to meet Holly’s Comet, who can make any dream into a reality. On the way, they must shake off attacks from Dr. Cresent.
In Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure!, players must overcome seven Areas in Story Mode and reach the top to meet the Holly’s Comet. The game also features a Challenge Mode in which players must climb the Rainbow Tower as fast as they can. Players can even test their skill in Time Attack Mode, and use the Rainbow magic.
