Resident Evil 5 for Nintendo Wii Confirmed?

If you expected someone to let it slip that Resident Evil 5 would be released for the Wii, you would expect Capcom or Nintendo to do it, right? Wrong! It seems Sega has inadvertently let it slip that RE 5 will be launched on the Wii. Simon Jeffrey from Sega said that Resident Evil 5 will be launched on the Nintendo Wii apparently.

Simon Jeffrey is the president of Sega of America. He told gaming blog Kotaku, “The Wii’s selling incredible amounts of hardware, but Nintendo knows it needs to expand the demographic. It needs to connect with the core gaming demographic. Resident Evil 5, when that happens on the Wii that’s going to help.”

But Capcom is denying Resident Evil 5 for Nintendo Wii as a representative told games news website CVG, “We have nothing further to announce regarding Resident Evil 5 at this time. Did you hear about the Sonic MMO, though, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS and Megadrive? And they’re bringing back the Dreamcast! Because it was brilliant.”

As for Simon Jeffery, he has pointed out that his statement about Resident Evil 5 for the Wii was nothing but a slip of tongue. As for Reggie Fils-Aime, he has said that RE 5 is not happening yet. Resident Evil 5 is expected to be out next year on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
