Skype for Xbox One gets hefty new update

Skype for Xbox One has been blessed with a chunk of new features that include improved chat, contact filtering, new emoticons and more. Available for download now through the Microsoft console, this app was launched along with the system itself back in November last year, and this is the first time that it’s getting an update.

Chats on Skype are now synchronized between all devices including PC, smartphones, tablets as well as the Xbox One. Moreover, push notifications have also been inserted into the app so as to alert you when a new message arrives. Chat history has been extended till up to 1,000 messages, rather than keeping it locked to just 7 days.

As part of its partnership with Marvel’s upcoming flick Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Microsoft has infused Skype with new ‘hidden heroes’ emoticons based on characters from the movie. Moreover, contact filtering also makes its way into Skype for Xbox One through this update. This feature allows you to filter your contacts by who is online, to save the time spent on going through the entire list.

The developers of Skype have infused the app with a First Time Tutorial tool which will introduce those who haven’t used the app prior to this to its features. And finally, many bugs which had marred the Skype app on Xbox One since its launch have also been quashed by Microsoft.
