Super Meat Boy soon to slide onto the XBLA

Super Meat Boy is noted to be a platform game based on the Flash game Meat Boy by developers Team Meat. It is also one of the most anticipated WiiWare titles set to hit the Nintendo platform this year. Although scheduled to unveil on the Wii, the title doesn’t really exploit the console’s specific features and employs the use of just a D-pad or analog stick and jump button. This means that the meaty offering could just make its way to other platforms.

Now the same developers Team Meat revealed to IGN that Super Meat Boy would also hit the Xbox Live Arcade. The title was earlier disclosed to release onto the PC as well. What’s more intriguing is that Super Meat Boy will first arrive on the XBLA with the WiiWare and PC version to ensue soon. By bring the game to the XBLA, it has more breathing room as Nintendo limits all its WiiWare games to just 42MB. Already half way through with the development and the game is noted to already be nearly 35MB. The company seems to have planned an online play and exclusive characters for the XBLA version of the title according to IGN.

Super Meat Boy is a 2D game which sees a bloody red bag conquering all the stages and standing up to lethal challenges like buzz saws and meat grinders. He is on a quest to save his girlfriend Band-Aid Girl from the clutches of the evil Dr. Fetus.

Team Meat is expecting to release their offering by summer this year and is also currently developing a Mac version. There are no plans as of now to fashion the game for the PlayStation Network. However the developers tell IGN that Super Meat Boy is working on a PlayStation 3 test kit.
