XCOM 2 gets announced for PC, coming later this year

November 2015 has been announced to be the release timeframe of XCOM 2 which has just been announced by developer Firaxis Games and publisher 2K Games. This game has only been revealed to be headed to Windows, Linux and Mac platforms for now.

XCOM 2 will have its story set in 2035, 20 years after the events that transpired in the first title from the series. It drops players in a world that’s being ruled by aliens, with humanity in dire need of fighting back and taking control of the situation.

A full reveal of the game is expected at the upcoming E3 extravaganza, but the makers have indeed released a trailer for it which can be spotted on the space down below. This will be a tactical strategy offering just like its predecessor, XCOM: Enemy Unknown which itself was based on a yesteryear classic.

A cause of concern is the fact that the game has only been announced for Windows, Linux and Mac platforms. This has disappointed a large number of console fans worldwide, but we’re sure that the game will be reaching other platforms sometime in the future.

This can be judged by taking into account the example of XCOM: Enemy Unknown which was released back in 2012 for PC, the PS3 and the Xbox 360. The next year, it made its way onto iOS and Mac, whereas 2014 saw it being released for Linux and Android.

We’re guessing that XCOM 2 will be giving older consoles a miss, and will be making its way to the PS4 and the Xbox One. However, nothing’s certain at the moment. Fans can stay tuned till E3 when more news about it is expected to be revealed.
