EA Canada’s upcoming SSX, has been hit with a delay and the developer has made it known that this title would not be released in North America until February 28, 2012. In a letter written to fans on the game’s official blog, it has been revealed that the decision to apply some final bits of polishing to this title has resulted in its delay.
When it was first unveiled at the Spike Video Game Awards in 2010, this game’s working title read SSX: Deadly Descents. Gamers will play as the member of a team which is looking for snowboarding locations through various real-world locations that include the Himalayan and Antarctic regions. Everything from helicopter drops, avalanches to the use of wingsuits are said to be part of this title.
“SSX was one of the games that always took the time to do exactly that. There is a reason why Tricky and SSX3 are still among the highest rated games of all time, and it is because even playing them today they still stand the test of time. Our goal from Day 1 was to re-launch this amazing franchise with a new SSX game that could live up to that legacy. We are incredibly proud of where we are today and extremely thankful for all the support that you, the community, have given us in helping to shape this game. We are making this game for you, and we want to make sure that you’ll love it,” explained, Todd Batty, Creative Director, SSX, on the blog.
A new gameplay trailer of this game has been outed by the developer recently. It features two new characters Tane Mumea and Alexis Moreau as well as Elise, Moby and Eddie from the previous titles. Along with a single-player campaign, SSX will also include a number of multiplayer modes.
SSX will be released for retail in North America on February 28, 2012, while its European launch is planned for March 2. It can currently be pre-ordered for the PS3 and Xbox 360 at a price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,170).
