EA’s latest football related release is a game mode of all things! Called as FIFA 09 Ultimate Team, the mode is available as a download. The game mode will offer up a new online footballing experience on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
FIFA 09 Ultimate Team lets gamers create or assimilate the most talented footballers in the world and mould them into a ‘dream team’ to compete online to see if whether have the ‘Ultimate team’.
“Online is the next great frontier in sports gaming. We are seeing a record number of individuals globally playing FIFA 09 online so we are focused on developing games that maximize the online experience,” stated Andrew Wilson, VP and Executive Producer for the franchise. “A dedicated team developed FIFA 09 Ultimate Team and they have created a game within the game, delivering a strategic new way to play FIFA 09 that will create hundreds of additional hours of playing time.”
In FIFA 09 Ultimate Team, gamers must strive to collect as many gold, silver and bronze virtual cards as they can from a total of 30 different types including contract, formations, player, staff and tactics. You must sign on the correct Manager and key players and dispense tactics and set match formations to take your club forward. You can even use Gameplay cards to trip up your opponents every now and then.
You can even create a player in your own visage and place him amongst your favorite football players. Practically everything is customizable including stadiums, players, kits and even badges and you can build your very own world’s next legendary club.
FIFA 09 Ultimate Team is scheduled to be available starting March 19, 2009. It will be an extension to EA’s FIFA 09 and to play FIFA 09 Ultimate Team you will need to have FIFA 09. A five game trial of FIFA 09 Ultimate Team will be available which gives gamers an opportunity to see what lies in wait if they decide to purchase the game.
