God of War: Chains of Olympus to Use New PSP CPU Speed

Last week, we had reported that new in-development PSP games would be using new PSP CPU speed. Now, the details of the games have started to pour in. According to Kotaku, developer Cory Barlog has indicated on the PlayStation.Blog that God of War: Chains of Olympus will be using the pumped up PSP CPU speed. He also said that more details of the game will be revealed at this years’ E3.

Didier Malenfant wrote to Kotaku confirming that they will be using the full speed of the CPU but he made it clear that the graphics of “God of War: Chains of Olympus” are good even when they don’t use the full CPU speed of the handheld console. He said, “EVERYTHING that was shown of GoW: Chains of Olympus so far was running at 222 MHz like everyone else. We are planning on having the final game run at 333 MHz but this likely won’t be just to improve the graphics which we think are already pretty awesome.”

Malenfant also said that they rendered God of War: Chains of Olympus at 1080p by means of a feature of the 2.0 version of their game engine. They will be putting more details about the PSP CPU confusion on their website in some time.
