Starhawk gets Free Cypress Map Pack with Update 1.03

Starhawk, LightBox Interactive’s much loved shooter which came out back in May, has been infused with a new Cypress Map Pack. Available to download now for free, this pack includes two new maps as well as a number of player-requested features, an increased level cap and bug-fixes.

Dubbed Collider and Origin, the two fresh maps contain lush green environments with lots of plants, trees and shallow ponds of water. And based on feedback from fans, more cover and places for troops to hide have also been incorporated into them. Moreover, the maps even have some pre-built structures that gamers can hide inside.

“Cypress is the first planet where Rift Energy was discovered in the New Frontier and its where mankind built the first Rift research facility — including the very first Extractor! Of course, it’s all abandoned and overgrown by lush vegetation now. The trees really provide a great layout for troops to run around, take cover behind, stage attacks and there are even some really cool mushroom thingies far up on the trunks of the trees so that troops can get out of the fray,” said Dylan Jobe, President, LightBox Interactive, on the official PlayStation blog.

With the increase in the level caps of players, they will now be able to surpass level 50 with Greek symbol rankings from Alpha to Omega. Various team-balance fixes, a revamped voice chat system, a Push-to-Talk option, locations of rift barrels on mini-maps as well as other features have been added to the game. Furthermore, custom music via XMB can also be added to the title.
