Way of the Samurai 4 Hitting PS3 on August 21

Currently available only in Japan, Way of the Samurai 4 is all set to hit the North American PSN on August 21 under the publishing of XSEED Games. This latest entry to the much loved series is set in post-isolationist Japan, and enables gamers to choose an allegiance to one of three competing factions that are immersed in a power struggle.

Way of the Samurai 4

The post-isolationist Japan era, is said to be a period of time which changed the nation forever. Developer Acquire has incorporated the cultural landscape of this era into the game, proffering players with various activities that can be undertaken in its sandbox world. They play as rōnin, a masterless samurai, who’s hoping to make a name for himself. He must side with either of the three factions present within the title. These include the shogunate pro-governmental forces, the nationalistic isolationists and the growing foreign powers.

The story will take shape depending on this decision and the interaction of gamers with each of the three factions. A total of ten different endings are possible. Another interesting aspect about the game is that it features an online trait, which allows players to upload and download characters that will roam in other players’ games as computer-controlled assassins. These can be challenged and defeated in order to gain their equipped spoils. The original voice-overs of the Japanese version have been retained, but they will be accompanied by English subtitles.

Way of the Samurai 4 will be made available for the PS3 via North American PSN on August 21, 2012 at a price of 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,215).
