Spoiler Alert: Big Boss returns in MGS4?, Mandatory Installation Required?

Metal Gear Solid

The internet can be a rather forgiving place, and so are video games, with only a few weeks before the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 across the globe and the excitement is growing at an unprecedented rate amongst fans and newcomers alike, finally the beloved saga comes a full circle.

It is almost impossible to believe the hype surrounding the MGS4 game. As reported a few days ago one of the mystery characters that makes a stellar comeback in Metal Gear solid 4 is none other than Big Boss himself, and here’s the proof included.

The year is 1964, Naked Snake is sent in the jungles of Russia to bring back a captured Russian scientist who is willing to defect for he fears his own creations and earns the title of Big Boss. “Les Enfants Terribles Project” is initiated Solid, Solidus and Liquid are created to as replicas of the perfect soldier. Solid Snake defeats Big Boss with a gas canister and a cigarette lighter.

Spoiler at your own risk.

MGS4 Spoiler

There can be a number of ways to look at this, either Big Boss has been genetically modified and recreated once again by Liquid Ocelot in the game and Metal Gear Solid 4 ends quite like the very first original game, a classic battle between the Big Boss and his prodigy and Solid Snake cannot bear this guilt for the nth time and finally kills himself ending his family feud, and hence the saga finishes.

This can also be a part of the flashback feature recently shown off within the game, we have already seen snake revisit Shadow Moses in true High definition, so the possibility of objects from Zanzibar Island, a glorious trip down memory lane re-visiting the events/places of MSX original version in full high definition.

Finally this may be a part of a cutscene which might be telling the tale of Naked Snake’s defection, his connection with the mysterious Patriots and the mystery surrounding the remaining half of the Philosopher’s legacy from Portable Ops (I’d bet my money on this one).

P.S.: It’s funny both Solidus and Snake look pretty much the same, they are clones end of the day, but their resemblance is quite uncanny including the eye patch, who votes for Solid Snake’s defection and not death in MGS4. Kojima does like to tease us a lot.

The dummy boxes in Europe being put up at various Gamestop outlets show a 4.6 GB minimum installation for the game. Most PS3 game off late require a mandatory installation to smoothen out loading times. My only fears are the installation time taken and scavenging for a PlayStation 3 in time to complete the game.

To be honest, I don’t mind the installs. Gives me time to look through the documentation that came with the game. And if it adds any performance to the game itself…by all means, go ahead and install. I didn’t mind the GTA install, or any of the other installs that I’ve had to go through w/ the PS3. I know how to manage my time.

honestly, who wrote this article? zanzibar island? now where is that? Oh, and Liquid Ocelot recreating Big Boss.Play the first game, watch the cutscenes, and tell me if THAT’S even remotely possible, given of what we know of Liquid’s characeter and feelings towards his father

Protip: If you’re going to include spoilers in your article and you go so far as to use the term “spoiler alert,” it doesn’t help to put the spoiler RIGHT IN THE TITLE. You may as well have never even provided the warning. Even suggesting the spoiler (which you apparently think is the in-game shot) is enough to actually spoil something because you’ve already mentioned that there is evidence.

    Talk about dense.

  6. Duh

Yea funny saying spoiler when the spoiler is in the title. Duh.

With that being said—who cares about a PS3 game.

    360 Rulez!

It’s been said already, but thanks for the spoiler in the headline. GREAT thing to stumble across when you’re scanning news alerts. A little more care as we get closer and closer to launch perhaps? please.

Big Boss returns at the end of the game after the credits. He stops snake from killing himself and tells Snake that The Patriots were created by Ocelot, Eva, Him (Big Boss), Major Zero, Signit, Para-medic. As they died Zero remade them as AIs to continue taking their place. Big Boss ends up killing Zero (who arrives as a vegetable in a wheelchair) and due to Big Boss killing him, he ends up dying right over The Boss’s grave. Big Boss tells Snake that at Zanizabar Land he never died. It was actually a clone, Solidus. They kept him in a coma and reconstructed him using Liquid and Solidus’s remains. So Big Boss dies cause of Foxdie and tells Snake to continue living his life in peace. No more fighting.

    correction:

big boss was kept in cryogenic sleep after zanzibarland..solidus was the clone that was burned on the deck of merly’s ship in europe after the gun fight. since solidus was the perfect clone, liquid thought it was him..so did eva. big boss was infact pieced back together with parts from solidus..hence to why he was juss a torso..with a missing eye lol. and..drebin was understrict orders to back up snake thinking he juss wanted liquid dead..so did they since they looked at him as a threat…so snake was once more injected with a new strain of foxdie to kill off eva, liquid, and big boss….imma geek..yeup

This final surprise at the very end of the game was mind blowing and completely unexpected. I’m glad i had the chance to experience it first hand, it was the best ending a story ever had, ever.
