Guitar Hero III gets Deftones and other Metal Bands as Downloadable Content

Just last week, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock got new downloadable content in the form of No Doubt’s most famous album. Now, metal heads can rejoice because Activision has sent in word that the game will get two new track packs which contain tracks by Deftones, Avenged Sevenfold and Thrice.

Known as the Modern Metal Pack, this DLC will see Guitar Hero II players jam up on master recordings of Deftones’ Hole in the Earth, Avenged Sevenfold’s Almost Easy and Thrice’s The Arsonist.

The Modern Metal Pack is now available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 console and via the PlayStation Store for PS3 gamers.

Activision seems to be in a happy mood for the gaming company is kicking off St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with a free track pack from the popular Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys. But this will only be available by mid-March 2008.

This free track pack will contain tracks from the band’s sixth album called The Meanest of Times. The DLC will include master recordings of popular songs like Famous for Nothing and Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya amongst others.
