The Diffusion Group has carried out a survey and has found out many startling facts about the multimedia features of the next-generation video game consoles that are available in the market today.
Here are the facts on multimedia features of next-gen game consoles:
Dale Gilliam III, Director, Primary Research & Author of the Report explains, “Today’s next-generation games consoles such as the Xbox 360 or Sony PS3 are true digital multimedia powerhouses. Yet very few of these devices are connected to the Internet and, even though these same platforms may feature a high-definition DVD playback system, very few consumers are using them for non-gaming media applications.”
The study conducted by The Diffusion Group also found that 80% of game console households own a console capable of some form of DVD playback or online download, but only 13% of them have ever made use of their game console for movie viewing. What’s more surprising is that, out of this 13%, only a quarter of them used the console for online purposes while the rest used it to watch movies on a DVD.
