A few days back, we reported that the Dungeon Siege III May release has been pushed forward to now unveil on June 17 in Europe and other PAL territories and June 21, 2011 in North America. While this news may put a frown on some eager-beavers, Square Enix continues to entice gamers with word that accessible controls and copious co-op gameplay elements on the PS3.
Now Valve and Square Enix team up to provide players with digital copies of the classic titles Dungeon Siege I and II when they pre-purchase the upcoming game Dungeon Siege III. The two previous titles can be played now itself without waiting for the third to release. Furthermore, the PC version of the RPG offering is slated to come packed with various Steamworks features which include. Steam Achievements, auto-updating, downloadable content and Steam Cloud support among others.
“Providing Dungeon Siege I and Dungeon Siege II free of charge through Steamworks is Square Enix’s way of showing appreciation to the fans of the Dungeon Siege franchise,” commented David Hoffman, executive producer for Dungeon Siege III. “Selecting Steamworks to be integrated into the upcoming Dungeon Siege III title made perfect sense as we wanted to provide the best possible gameplay experience for PC gamers and long-standing fans of the series.”
“Dungeon Siege III is joining a long line-up of Square Enix titles using Steamworks,” stated Jason Holtman, director of business development for Valve. “Our focus for Steam is on enabling developers to spend time on creating value for our customers, and seeing the Dungeon Siege franchise re-emerge, with its all-new co-op mode and inclusion of Steamworks, is a great example of that.”
The forthcoming action title transports players to the land of Ehb where they must assume the role of any one among four heroes. The decisions made by them will determine the consequence and change the storyline altogether. Two gamers can journey alongside each other in local co-op mode while up to four friends are able to enjoy the title via online co-op play. In co-op multiplayer mode, players can easily drop in and out of battle.
The Windows PC version of Dungeon Siege III is priced at 49.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,204) while the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions bear individual price tags of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,645).
