Square Enix has said that Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume has shipped to retailers. This is the first time the series appears on Nintendo’s DS system and brings the captivating game with its strategic battles and deep storyline to the DS.
The game takes players on a journey of revenge, this time in the body of a mortal and features multiple endings and more than 20 groups to enlist as allies. Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume tells the story of the mortal Wylfred, who’s family was devastated by the valkyrie when he was just a young lad. He took an oath to extract revenge and now as a man he steps up to keep his promise.
The game has many intuitive and new features. It is played from the perspective of a mortal, and incorporates new gameplay dynamics with the Overkill and Soul Crush attacks. The 3D world is wonderfully rendered and features over 20 possible allies and multiple story endings that give the game an aspect of being played over and over again. Also, the game is said to contain a bonus dungeon which must be unlocked.
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume has been released to North American retailers and can be purchased for 39.99 USD (approx. Rs. 2,050), but the PAL release of the game is still a few weeks away, such that the game is expected there around April 3, 2009.
