The most popular forms of entertainment in India are Bollywood and cricket. There have been many video game titles on cricket but no one has yet ventured out and made a game with a Bollywood theme. Well, all that is about to change as FXLabs along with Zapak and Sify launched Agni, a third person shooter role playing game for the PC.
One of the things that is exciting about Agni is that Bollywood actress Malaika Arora Khan stars as the lead character. It is the first PC game developed in India and includes some ten original scenic stages as well as four different characters. Gamers will be able to play as Tara, Agni, Ghayab and Adhira.
FXLabs hopes to reach every nook and corner of India. Sashi Reddy is the founder and chairman of FXLabs. He quoted “Agni is the result of our efforts to offer Indian gamers with international quality content with local flavor at Indian prices. We have followed international ‘AAA’ production standard that rivals the best PC games in quality.”
They have decided to break through into all the remote places in India and for that they have roped in partners like Zapak as well as Sify. FXLabs wants to create a milestone in the industry. Zapak will be launching a trial version of Agni on their website and there will be some activity around the game in the Gameplex cafes. Sify too will be promoting Agni through their GameDrones as well as online.
Arun Mehra is the chief marketing officer at Zapak. He commented, “Today Zapak is the leader in the gaming space with the sheer virtue of the largest gaming community (over 4 million) residing on it. When we saw the Agni game by FXLabs, we were very excited as this is probably one of the first Indian games that will stand up to international standards, therefore despite the fact that this is a PC game we felt it was important to associate with it to promote the game.”
CVS Suri is the chief operating officer of Sify Technologies. He noted, “Sify has been developing the online games market in India for a number of years with numerous pioneering initiatives through two hundred Sify GameDromes and over a thousand Sify iWays with games enabled PCs in more than a hundred cities. We are very happy to partner with FXLabs to promote and market Agni through out online mall as well as through GameDromes. The first world-class game developed in India, Agni has Indian characters with compelling content and local flavor that can capture the imagination of the gaming community. We believe that the launch of Agni will be a watershed in the development of online games in India, and are proud to be associated with it.”
Agni has already been released and is available to a global audience. The game can be downloaded from the FXLabs website. Agni looks like a decent game and it is great to see that someone has taken an initiative to come up with Bollywood themed games. Who knows, they could soon come out with a movie based on Agni!
