I always used to wonder that with the rise in the popularity of fantasy football games, why don’t they make a massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) based on the beautiful game. Looks like my prayers have been answered as CyberSports is coming out Football SuperStars, a MMOG for football fans and gamers alike.
Football SuperStars will let gamers meet within a utopian soccer-styled virtual world and take part in 3, 5, 7 and 11-a-side football matches. They will take control of a single footballer and will interact on and off the pitch living the football superstar lifestyle whilst pursuing fame, glory and success, striving to join the best clubs, compete at the highest level and progress within the game through skill and sporting prowess. Football SuperStars will also allow gamers to form and manage their own teams and careers whilst engaging in various leagues, competitions, events and tournaments.

Football already has great communities and fan bases and we’re hoping to capture that passion and bring it together in a virtual world where players can literally live, breathe and eat football.”

Football SuperStars will release for the PC. CyberSports has not revealed any launch date for the game. It would have been great if they could make it for the consoles too, especially for the Xbox 360 and PS3, as both have their respective online services, Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. Sega too, is coming out with a football MMO known as Football Manager Live.
