Microsoft Game Studios, Ensemble Studios and Big Huge Games have announced the second expansion pack for their real time strategy game, Age of Empires III. The Asian Dynasties will now take gamers to the east and introduce them to Asian civilizations.

This second expansion pack of Age of Empires III will give gamers an actual experience of the rich and historical influences of Asia while commanding their units and growing their empire in the Eastern world. The Asian Dynasties will also contain content and several new gameplay elements that include new ways of winning and trading, random map styles that feature remixes of classic ‘Age of Empires’ game styles, and 15 new Asian ‘Wonders’.

Bruce Shelley, Lead Designer, Ensemble Studios said, “The success of ‘Age of Empires III’ has given us the chance to expand the gameplay further and offer a fresh perspective through this expansion pack created by Big Huge Games. We’re pleased to have them work on this project with us and convinced that they will deliver a great addition to the franchise.”

Brian Reynolds, CEO & Creative Director, Big Huge Games explains, We’re privileged to have the opportunity to develop ‘Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties’ with Ensemble Studios and certain that the innovation of both teams will deliver an exciting experience for fans of this franchise. We feel that the in-depth experience of Big Huge Games in the real-time strategy genre, combined with the solid name of the ‘Age of Empires’ franchise, will result in something fresh and unique for gamers.”

Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties is being developed by Big Huge Games and will release for the PC later this year. One good thing that Microsoft has done is that the expansion pack will be available for both, Windows Vista and Windows XP.
