Along with specialized headphones keyboards and mouse, one of the most important things that a hardcore PC gamer needs is a gaming surface or a mouse pad. Danish gaming gear maker SteelSeries has now unveiled the SX, a new professional gaming mousepad made of fiber polished aluminum featuring an anodized oxide surface treatment.
Every SX mousepad is individually fiber polished and anodized, prior to being manually treated with a new exceptional liquid silicone coating, developed particularly for this surface. It comes with the SteelSeries Glide MS and the SteelSeries Silicone Glide, a specially designed saturated cloth, to further enhance glide and reduce friction.
Jonas ‘Johnny R’ Bollack, SteelSeries Development Team explains, “With the SteelSeries SX we tried to reach new limits and I can honestly say we reached them. It was our goal to make a pad that would offer velvetiness and be very durable and not lose it over time. We knew from experience that aluminum was an ideal material to attain this goal. Several months, and after countless tests by professional gamers, later we can at last present the result. An anodized aluminum surface that does the job perfectly and both we and our testers agreed: This is as good as it (aluminum) gets.”

SteelSeries SX is available in limited quantities at selected retailers worldwide. Gamers can either buy it a single product or in bundles with either a SteelSeries IME 3.0 SS mouse or SteelSeries 5H v2 USB and SteelSeries 4H headsets.
