HistoriCanada – Video Game Mod Unveiled by 2K

Video games can be used in imparting education. 2K has proved this by coming out with a professionally designed mod that is based on Sid Meier’s Civilization III. HistoriCanada: The New World is a Canadian history computer game that will present Canadian students a fun and interactive way to study about their history.

Christoph Hartmann, President, 2K explains, “2K is proud to be a part of the development and donation of HistoriCanada: The New World, which will give students across Canada with access to an unparalleled educational experience. In addition to learning about their history through simulation scenarios, students can look at original artwork, watch vignettes and read articles about hundreds of topics thanks to the involvement of The Canadian Encyclopedia and Historica Minutes.”

Nathon Gunn, co-creator of HistoriCanada: The New World & CEO of Bitcasters says, “After two years in development, HistoriCanada: The New World will provide a unique opportunity for students to totally immerse themselves in Canada’s deep history. This revolutionary computer game will boost students’ national pride and give them an entirely new outlook on their country.”

2K will put HistoriCanada inside copies of Sid Meier’s Civilization III and donate it to 100,000 high school students across Canada. It is a very nice idea and let’s hope they can do it for other countries too, especially from Asia and Africa.
