Dragon Age Legends Servers to be Shut Down This June

One of EA’s many social games, Dragon Age Legends will not be playable come June, as the gaming giant plans to shut down the title’s servers from next month onwards. The game’s E-commerce feature, which enabled gamers to purchase crowns with real money, has already been turned off, while a sale has also been kicked off on all items in the title’s store.

Servers for both the Facebook as well as the Google+ versions of the game will be padlocked from June 18, 2012. A customer appreciation program for all current DAL players has been announced by EA. Under this promotion, all those who play BioWare Social’s new fantasy RPG, Age of Champions on Facebook, will be rewarded with an exclusive promo pack, provided they’ve played DAL in the past three months.

“Sad news to report today: On June 18, 2012 we’ll be turning off the Dragon Age Legends servers. This is by no means a reflection on the quality of the game; the awesome team who created it; or the incredible, passionate community who has supported it. While it’s never fun to say goodbye, consider it only temporary. We’re also hard at work on our next core social projects, and we promise you they will be even more epic than anything we’ve done before. We hope you’ll join us again when they launch,” reads a post on Dragon Age Legends’ official blog.

EA has also confirmed that any remaining crown balance after June 18, 2012 will not be transferable to future BioWare Social products. And as a ‘Thank You’ to the game’s community, the company will be offering a free downloadable version of Dragon Age Legends through its official website once the title is offline. This won’t feature the social experience of the original game, but will allow players to continue their journey in a solo campaign.

Gamers busy with Dragon Age Legends must make sure to spend all their crowns before its sever shut down on June 18.
