Minecraft: Story Mode headed to Wii U, will mark series debut on Nintendo platform

Minecraft: Story Mode, the completely detached-from-the-original adventure game which is being developed Telltale Games right now has just been announced for the Wii U. It has thus become the first title from the series to come to a Nintendo platform.

There’s still no release date in sight, but the first episode from its narrative is set to be released in 2015; that’s for sure. It’s hard to believe that despite being available on so many different platforms, Minecraft has never made its way to a Nintendo console or handheld.

But what matters now is that Telltale will finally be breaking this record and will be releasing it for the Wii U. This upcoming game will take the visuals and other elements of Minecraft and will blend them with a completely new story set within the universe.

This novel concept will be accompanied by Telltale’s trademark narrative style. This means it will be an adventure game with small chunks of action involved, but more importantly, it will kick in a tailored storyline which will shape itself on the decisions you make at various points. It also means different players will receive a different storyline based on their choices.

Minecraft was developed by Mojang for PC originally, but it has made its way onto a large number of platforms including Windows Phone, iOS, Android as well as mainstream ones like the PS4, the Xbox One and others. The franchise was purchased by Microsoft in September last year for a whopping 2.5 billion dollars.

Like we said, Minecraft: Story Mode does not have a release date as yet, but we do know that this game will be released later this year.
