ZombiU is headed to the PS4 and the Xbox One, says report

One of the flagship games for the Wii U console was ZombiU which provided first-person survival horror gameplay to owners of the Nintendo console. Well that was more than two years ago, but its makers seemingly do not consider this game to have gotten old.

They have decided to relaunch it for new-gen consoles under a slightly different name. Since the U in ZombiU stood for its exclusivity to the Wii U, that letter has been removed from the name of the PS4 and Xbox One version, thus resulting in its name being Zombi.

As has been pointed out by Polygon, the game has recently been rated by Taiwan’s Game Software Rating Regulations for both the above mentioned consoles. It had moreover been rated by Australia’s Classification Board for the Xbox One not too long ago.

ZombiU

Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, ZombiU was published by Ubisoft for the Wii U back in November 2012. Despite receiving a good response from the press, the game ultimately failed to become a hit with gamers. Part of the reason for this is that the Nintendo console itself didn’t manage to get as popular as the company wanted it to be.

It was later revealed that ZombiU had not manage to return any profit to Ubisoft. Now, with the PS4 and Xbox One consoles having reached millions of homes worldwide, the publisher it seems is seeing some hope in its re-release. Maybe at least now this admirable title is able to bring in some revenue.

Details about Zombi are still to be revealed officially by Ubisoft. But as is usually the case with re-releases, we’re guessing that the important information will be disclosed around a month prior to its launch.
