Nintendo Wii Crosses the 7 Million Milestone in Japan

The Wii has surely been a savior for Nintendo in many ways and a few days ago it was reported that their present generation console significantly contributed to the profits. In fact, in Japan the Nintendo Wii has been doing pretty well, though once it was beaten by the Sony PS3.

However, the Wii keeps on crossing one milestone after the other! Japanese video games magazine Famitsu is reporting that the sales of the Nintendo Wii have crossed the seven million mark in Japan. The data has been sourced from Enterbrain, who are an industry-research firm and are the publishers of the magazine.

As for the competitors of Nintendo, the PS3 has sold some two and a half million units while the Xbox 360 has sold eight lakh units. The sales of the Nintendo Wii were given a boost by the Animal Crossing: City Folk game. The figures from Enterbrain indicate that during the week of November 17 to 23, the simulation game sold more than three lakh copies.
