The Wii is turning out to be a platform that is offering game developers to come up with not only some real cool ideas but also explore innovative genres and themes. Now Electronic Arts has sent word about an all-new intellectual property, which is called as Celebrity Sports Showdown.
Dave McCarthy, Executive Producer, says, “We feel that this game is the EA Sports Freestyle answer to a great Wii party game. It explores the lighter side of sports and pulls inspiration from the entertainment spectacles that are so prevalent in pop culture today. Celebrity Sports Showdown will bring people to the party with a collection of games and celebrities that appeal to everyone.”
Celebrity Sports Showdown is basically a party game that has twelve outdoor sports games. Gamers can play as their favorite celebrities in games such as Beach Volleyball, Inner-Tubing, Wild Water Canoeing, Hurdle Derby, Slalom Showdown, Cliff Hangers, Smash Badminton, Rapid Fire Archery, Joust Duel, Curling, Arena Dodgeball and Air Racers.
What about the celebrities, well, Celebrity Sports Showdown features stars such as Fergie, Avril Lavigne, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, Nelly Furtado, Paul Pierce, Mia Hamm, Kristi Yamaguchi, Reggie Bush and Sugar Ray Leonard. The game has easy-to-play and fun controls that have been designed specially for the Wii.
Celebrity Sports Showdown for the Nintendo Wii is presently being developed by EA Canada, the same people who did EA Playground. Celebrity Sports Showdown will release some time in winter 2008. The game is the first game to be launched for the Wii under the brand known as EA Sports Freestyle.
