Club Nintendo is getting the boot, but there’s a replacement on the way

Club Nintendo has had a long journey, but alas, it’ll soon be the end of the road for the reward service across the globe. The gaming company has announced that it’s in processor of discontinuing the program and disappointing as this is, there is some good news as well.

The giant is already working on a new loyalty program which will replace Club Nintendo. The company doesn’t have anything official to announce and it notes that it’ll reveal all the details at the later date. Until then, the reward service will continue to function as normal, at least in the US and Canada.

The company has announced that through the end of March, members will be able to earn more coins and even redeem them before July. To make the transition an easy process, Nintendo is offering various new rewards and even downloadable games so that you’ll be able to clear up your coin inventory. Sadly, there’s no roster of what content will be made available as yet.

Additionally, the company is offering Flipnote Studio 3D software for free starting next month. This tool will allow users to create their own 3D animations and also share them with others via a local wireless connection. New customers including those who purchase the updated 3DS XL will still be able to register for the service and Nintendo will stop accepting members from June 30. In recent news, the latest 3DS handheld console was launched stateside for $199.99 and you can also pick it up as a bundle for $229.99.
