Spore Franchise Expands to Include Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena

Spore Hero

Spore has been very well received by fans and critics alike, with the game recently achieving 1 million creature creations online. Now Maxis, an EA division, has revealed that the Spore franchise is all set to expand the Spore universe with two new titles, Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena, built completely from the ground up. Spore Hero is for the Wii, while Spore Hero Arena is for the Nintendo DS.

“When Maxis first considered bringing Spore to console players, the Nintendo platforms jumped out as a perfect fit. Whether it is the stylus-driven action of the Nintendo DS or playful controllers of the Wii, the massive Nintendo audience is the ideal home for Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena,” Lucy Bradshaw, Vice President and GM at Maxis, explained. “Nintendo fans will love the humor, ability to create their own Hero, fun gameplay and immersive storylines we’re creating for these two games.”

Spore Hero, set in a 3D world, implores players to create a hero and take up a quest to save their planet from a dark force. The game makes full use of the Wii controls and takes players through immersive puzzles, hilarious missions and heatedly contested battles. The Spore Creature Creator has been improved for the Wii, allowing for unmatched customization.

For the Nintendo DS, Spore Hero Arena submerges players into arena-based combat as players create a hero Gladiator and go planet-hopping to do battle with various enemies and creatures. Players complete special missions, gathering abilities and parts to upgrade their gladiator, which leads to a unique fighting style when saving the galaxy. Up to four players can play Spore Hero Arena locally or over Wi-Fi.
