Nintendo and Apple Headed for a Showdown?
After taking the lead in the next-gen console war and taking on heavyweights like Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo will now go head on with another tech power, Apple. According to an article in the NY Post, Nintendo and Apple may have a showdown in the handheld games market.

Nintendo has moved for a patent for tilt sensitivity technology on the DS, which will make it into a portable Wii. However, this is a little bit similar to the motion-based accelerometer in the iPhone. Apple too is working at a very fast pace to add games on their phone, which has become one of the gadgets of the year.
NY Post spoke to technology expert Seth Porges. He said, “If people could get over the lack of real buttons, the fact that the screen is multi-touch could be ideal for light gaming. It is far more likely that they will release a motion-sensitive version of the current DS so that it can interface with the Wii (home system) in creative ways.”
The Nintendo DS is a big phenomenon worldwide and so far has sold 26 million units worldwide. The iPhone has created quite a buzz too, but the downside will be that the phone is only available on the AT&T network. This could narrow the market for Apple, who aims to bring more games other than the trivia and puzzle games that will form the major chunk of titles on the iPhone.

Yea sure apple cant even compete in the computer market why should the get the idea that because there ipod went well all else is i find ipod inferior to other players they just somehow built up a reputation and people never see past it when buying an mp3 player.
