Resident Evil 4 claws its way onto the iPhone and iPod Touch

The survival horror action game entitled Resident Evil 4 crept into stores early 2005 for the PS2 and GameCube consoles. Now fans of the franchise who are armed with just an iPhone can also indulge in some serious zombie eradication. Capcom releases bite sized bits of Resident Evil 4 onto the iPhone and iPod touch.

RE4 For Beginners

The game is known as Resident Evil 4: For Beginners and comprises of the first two chapters of Resident Evil 4 as well as a new tutorial level. It also includes a new ‘Beginner’ difficulty setting, three mercenary missions and one new ‘shooting gallery’ mini game. The remaining chapters of the title will be offered as DLC. All those who already possess the complete game can acquire the newly added features in the form of a new update.

The mobile version of Resident Evil 4 comes complete with intuitive context sensitive Multi-Touch controls and high-resolution 3D graphics. Via the new location based damage system, players can shoot enemies in their leg in order to slow them in their tracks or get a direct head shot for an instant kill. Complex actions can also be executed through the context sensitive controls that emerge during gameplay. By simply touching the icon, gamers can equip binoculars, climb ladders and jump out windows.

The story begins six years after the complete devastation of Raccoon City. Leon S. Kennedy who was formerly Raccoon City Police Department’s amateur cop is now a U.S. agent. He is on a secret mission to rescue the President’s daughter Ashley Graham. His exploits land him in a Spanish-speaking village in Europe where he faces the savage inhabitants. These unruly villagers are all associated with the Los Illuminados cult which is also behind the kidnapping of the President’s daughter.

Resident Evil 4: For Beginners can be acquired from Apple’s App Store for a price of just $.99 (approx. Rs.46).
