World of Warcraft fans can rejoice as the game’s fourth expansion pack has been announced by Blizzard to be gearing up for a release. However, a definite launch date is yet to be announced by the developer. It was revealed at the BlizzCon gaming festival that World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria will involve a ‘long-lost’ continent that has been rediscovered after the events in the game’s last expansion.
After debuting in Warcraft III, the pandaren race will be making its way into this expansion alongside a new class – the martial-arts-focused Monk. On reaching the ‘exotic new’ land and progressing to the new level cap of 90, players will be greeted by new game features including quests, dungeons, group scenarios, challenge modes, pet battles and more.
Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, shared, “Players have been asking to see the pandaren in World of Warcraft since the game’s launch, and we’re excited to finally be able to give them a proper re-introduction to Azeroth. In addition to the new playable race and class, Mists of Pandaria contains a huge amount of new content, and we’re looking forward to sharing more information about all of it at BlizzCon and beyond.”
The continent of Pandaria has remained hidden from the world since the breaking apart of Azeroth over ten thousand years ago. Following the events in the Cataclysm expansion, the heroes of this land have emerged and are now sharing the ‘extraordinary’ secrets of their ancient martial arts.
Barring the new race, class, zones, scenarios, pet battles and challenges, a fresh talent system would also be introduced by this expansion. Believed to be an ‘overhauled’ version of the earlier one, this system is set to provide even more customization options to gamers.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, which is the fourth such expansion for the popular MMORPG, is yet to get a specific release date.
