At E3 2008, one game that stood out from Sony’s stable was MAG: Massive Action Game, partly because the game apparently will have support for online battles with up to 256 players. The MAG title is obviously is a tentative one as Sony will change the name soon.
An insider has revealed to video games blog Kotaku that MAG: Massive Action Game will be a MMO based on mercenary combat. The insider was part of a focus group that were shown the game sometime before this year’s E3. Since Zipper Interactive is working on the game, apparently the MAG game will have the SOCOM branding. The insider said they had been given six options for taglines at the end from the new name.
The names included, MAG: Shadow War; MAG: Zero; MAG: Global Assault and MAG: Final Hour. But the focus group zeroed down on the first two names. The insider also revealed that he saw there factions on MAG: Massive Action Game, one was Americans, that was based Alaska. The other two were a division from a Middle East and one from Europe. The MMO is set fifteen to twenty years in the future.
