Original Gears of War could soon arrive on the Xbox One

The original Gears of War game that gave birth to one of the most loved franchises in video game history is apparently soon supposed to be given a remaster treatment. An official announcement on this matter still hasn’t been made, but a test build of the title is reportedly being distributed right now, allowing select gamers to experience what’s in store for them in the near future. No points for guessing that the actual unveiling will most probably take place at E3 this June.

Gears of War

Polygon was first to report on the Gears of War remaster, and the site revealed that this offering will ship with enhanced visuals and cutscenes that will be created by an animation studio named Plastic Wax. It apparently also saw stills from the remastered version. The same report even said that Splash Damage could be the developer responsible for this game, but Kotaku has received a screenshot from the test build that says that the game is being helmed by Black Tusk Studios.

Whatever studio may be developing the title, what’s important is that there’s considerable evidence that a Gears of War remaster is in the making right now for the Xbox One. The original title was released back in 2006 as a flagship game for the Xbox 360 console. A year later, it was ported to PC and it even received two sequels that went on to complete a trilogy. Back in 2013, Microsoft released a prequel to the series, named Gears of War: Judgement.
