Xbox 360 gets a price drop in India

As Microsoft prepares to finally deploy its newest console in India later this year, it’s pushing hard to sell more units of the Xbox 360. This is being emphasized by a price drop which has been affixed to the console. Both the 250GB system as well as its Kinect bundle have been made cheaper by around Rs 3,000 with an aim of providing greater value for consumers. MRPs of the 4GB editions however remain the same.

Microsoft will now be selling the 250GB Xbox 360 at Rs 21,990 instead of its earlier cost of Rs 24,990. This means there’s a straight Rs 3,000 drop in its asking amount. Furthermore, the bundle containing a 250GB console as well as the Kinect accessory will be offered for Rs 31,990 instead of Rs 34,890 which means there’s a Rs 2,900 drop here.

The Xbox 360 has become a cheaper option to the PS3, if its 500GB version is concerned. This latter device has been priced at Rs 22,990, but one of its perks is that it offers double the storage than what the Microsoft console grants. And just like the Xbox 360 has a 4GB model priced at Rs. 15,990, the PS3 too has a more practical 12GB edition which can be purchased at Rs 16,990.

Before cheapening the price of the Xbox 360, Microsoft also introduced a huge promotion for its Gold subscriptions here in India. With a grand prize which is valued to be worth around Rs 3 lakh, this promotion has grabbed a lot of eyeballs.
