Touting it to be a groundbreaking new multiplayer offering, Microsoft has pulled the veil off the Halo 4 Infinity multiplayer which is all set to introduce completely new features to the game. Along with this, the company also announced a Limited Edition of the title that proffers its buyers a host of in-game benefits.
Coming back to the Infinity multiplayer component, this addition is set to serve as the hub of the entire Spartan careers of players. It will take place atop the UNSC Infinity starship and this is where gamers will be able to build their custom Spartan-IV supersoldier and progress their multiplayer careers across each of the competitive and cooperative modes within the title. Progress and choices made during the game will affect players’ appearance, arsenal and role on the battlefield.
First among the highlighted features of the Halo 4 Infinity multiplayer is Spartan Ops. It has been described by Microsoft as an episodic adventure that combines storytelling, high-quality cinematics as well as action-packed gameplay. A weekly series of cinematic episodes will be launched through Xbox Live providing backdrops for the weekly Spartan Ops gameplay missions. These will be playable in single-player or co-op modes.
The entire competitive multiplayer structure of this upcoming title is called War Games. All these modes transpire on the combat deck of the UNSC Infinity. More details about the new modes will be released later on. Meanwhile, it has also come to light that a new armor modification system has been infused into the game. Said to proffer gameplay-enhancing customizations, this system can even be deployed in Spartan Ops and certain War Games matchmaking playlists.
The game’s Limited Edition copies are being doled out with access to nine extra maps that will otherwise be available in three future competitive multiplayer map packs. Early access to a total of six Specializations will also be available along with a UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet, which contains an armor customization schematic, a blueprint of the ship itself and other information related to the game. Moreover, even avatar items and skins will be comprised within this edition, apart from an extended 90-minute version of a live-action digital series named Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.
Gamers eager to jump into the Halo 4 Infinity multiplayer experience will have to wait until November 6, 2012 when the title is scheduled to launch for the Xbox 360. The Limited Edition that we’ve mentioned above can be pre-ordered now at a price of 69.99 GBP (approx. Rs. 6,070).
