Holiday Release of Kinect Star Wars Bundle Delayed

In a news that certainly spells disappointment to fans of the celebrated Star Wars series, Microsoft has confirmed that the launch of the Kinect Star Wars bundle has been adjourned. The release which was scheduled for this holiday season, has been moved ‘beyond’ that period, thus making it clear that the bundle won’t come out until next year.

A Microsoft spokesperson, while speaking to OXM has revealed that the delay has been brought about in order to make new additions to the title. Thus, along with the game, the release of the bundle which includes a R2-D2-themed 320 GB Xbox 360 console, a white Kinect sensor, a gold C-3PO-themed Xbox 360 wireless controller and a copy of Kinect Adventures also receives a delay.

“Microsoft and LucasArts have elected to move the launch of Kinect Star Wars beyond holiday 2011 to ensure the full potential of this title is realized. This move applies to both the Kinect Star Wars stand-alone game and the Kinect Star Wars Limited Edition Console. We will communicate additional timing information at a later date,” shared the Microsoft spokesperson with the website.

Kinect Star Wars makes use of the motion sensing accessory for the Xbox 360 while taking players on an adventure through the movie franchise’s prequel trilogy, beginning at Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and ending at Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. A battle with Darth Wader also beckons gamers in this title.

It’s now certain that the Kinect Star Wars bundle won’t hit markets before 2012 and fans expecting its release in the holiday season will have no option but to wait till next year.
