Future Xbox 360 Exclusives will Surpass Killzone 2: Microsoft
Killzone 2 seems to have won a lot of critics and gamers alike. The tremendous wave of hype the game was riding upon has finally delivered and there seems a unanimous verdict regarding the visual powers the game is embedded with, including Microsoft.
We were talking to a Microsoft spokesperson who had this to say about Killzone 2 and Microsoft’s future:
“We congratulate Sony and Guerilla Games for their efforts with Killzone 2, however this is only the beginning of a new wave. The current technology employed for certain unannounced Xbox 360 exclusives far surpasses what gamers have seen in any game so far. Gears of War was the beginning of this technological benchmark when released on the 360 and this lineage will be carried forward in the following months with exclusives that shall stand for a new definition of gaming experience and provide stiff competition for the opposition.”
Now that’s what we call heavy, civil and pompous claim. Microsoft seems to have much more lined up for its communities for the following months to come and some of these announcements seem to be rather magnanimous in nature.
oh please let one of those games be another Perfect Dark game.
BS…They can say that their games are gonna look great…But Uncharted 2 and GoW3 will just shove it back in their face.

I could see MS doing somthing better than KZ2, after all KZ2 was not nearly as out of this world as everyone claimed.
Also keep in mind that MS can code far better than Sony, just look at the broken mess the PSN, PS3 interface, and Home turned out to be, Sony can’t out code MS.
The 360 hardware is about maxxed out. From here on out you won’t see much difference from game to game. It’s all downhill from here on out for the 360. For the PS3 the sky’s the limit.
Whatever these new mind boggling exclusives will be, the second you pop them in the 360 itll rrod or brick.
would like to see a list of games that are supposed to be pushing the graphics further not just a random comment. i could say the games i’m developing have better graphics than real life but you won’t believe me with out proof.
Honestly I have both and I havent touched the PS3 in months, and Ive had three 360′s burn out on me in the same number of years… but for some reason i keep supporting Microshiet, Why? because Xbox produces, while PS3 keeps SLOOOWLY pooping out very shiny pieces of gameing but overall, MS is right.. their “Exclusives!” meaning more then one game will totaly destroy whatever benchmark KZ2 as put up, please its only one friggin game.

Gears of War 4 and 5?
They can talk all they want, they fact remains that Gears of War 2 used up just about all of the 360′s power(95%)and it still looked terrible compared to the 1st Uncharted. No way any new game on the 360 is going to look better then Killzone 2 or even Metal Gear Solid 4. this is the kind of arrogance that got MS in trouble in the PC industry and why Apple is now leading the demand for home comupters. The only thing MS has done since its stepped into the gaming world is sold crappy hardware and bought out developers resulting in crappy games. The quality of games has suffered hugely because of MS and their payoffs and bribes. They may sell more hardware but how many of those hardware sales are rebuys because people got sick of dealing with MS and the RROD. Every 360 owner I know is on their 2nd or 3rd console and they are new buys after having their olds ones fixed and sent back then fixed again. The never ending cycle of hardware failures and trolls who keep supporting such a terrible and unethical company. The 360 is done. Burned out. Its not going to get any better then this for them and they know it. If developers werent so lazy they could create some truly amazing games on the PS3 but MS has provided them the easy way out. Took old technology and branded it new giving devs a lazy way of making games. If Killzone 2 is only the start of whats to come for Sony, then this will the year Sony shows off what the PS3 is capable of as long as developers arent willing to go the way of Capcom and take bribes from M$.
yeah i suppose you could say that “microsoft would say that” but honestly, how many empty promises and delays in not only hardware but also software has sony failed to deliver? I do own an xbox (4 years) that has never rrod’d and have always played what they have promised i would be playing when they said i would be playing it.
LOL. BS… I was going to say the same thing, “I’ll believe it when I see it”. Particularly the fact that they’re using Gears 2 as the benchmark for this new graphical wave. In the eyes of most, Gears 2 did not even get a victory over MGS4 or Uncharted… and it definitely could not pull off all of the effects that KZ2 has running simultaneously. If these future games rely on Unreal Engine, the 360 is done!
oh also, has anyone else noticed none of the 360 exclusives never score higher then 8/10. now thats not bad, but when just about every PS3 exclusive is scoring on average 9/10 to 10/10 what does that tell you? lets compare. 360: Fable 2 8/10, Gears of War 2 8/10 Star Ocean 8/10 now for the PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4 10/10, LittleBigPlanet 9/10, Killzone 2 9/10, Resistance:Fall of Man 9/10 and Resistance 2 9/10. the 360 is done.

Since KZ2 doesn’t look that good to begin with it should not be hard for MS to match it’s graphic. They can use blurrines and low-res textures aswell as abd framerate to cover flaws.

Microsoft how do you do that when the XBOX 360 is a pig dressed up in new clothing? The console is flawed (we are fixing them as fast as we can, RROD), storage is limited (9.4GB), graphics also limited, Gears of War color palette mainly brown.
The future is PS3 with games that set the bar like Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Infamous, God of War and Gran Tursimo 5.
You can go ahead and pay developers for DLC, your game division is already in the red with $3bn due to RROD. Your Vista OS tanked like a lead balloon. You provide nothing but hype and charge your installed base for XBOX Live. Shame on you!

Anyway, Killzone 2 only does a few things better than GeOW2, which are, blur, smoke effects and lighting. Gears of War 2 is better in textures, explosions (not the smoke/dirt/particles though), organic environments. The environment in GeOW2 is organic and “messy”, while KZ2 has lots of order and almost everything is just square boxes, which is easy rendering. People seem to like that better though, but from a technical standpoint it’s not impressive, even though the experience itself is. And take into account that Killzone 2 was in development longer than Gears of War 1 AND 2 combined, and you got your answer.
I think the fact that they used Gears Of War as an example says it all…….if that’s the best their hardware can come up with then Microsoft may as well just give up now.
Gears couldn’t even get the simple things right, such as lighting, how are they supposed to match the particle effects in Killzone 2?
Besides…..future PS3 exclusives will surpass Killzone 2 anyways. I’d love to see the Hexbox 360 compete visually with Gran Turismo 5…….LOL.

MS has some amazing looking games, and the ps3 has amazing looking games, and they both have bright futures, for anyone to act like one is that much better then the other, is just plain stupid, honestly I feel at this point in the graphics war you need more and more power to notice smaller and smaller differences in the visuals.
But one thing MS I believe is trying to say, is that there not done, and Alane Wake is already proving that. And for ps3 Uncharted 2 is already proving there not done.

Gears of War 2 is already pushing the 360 to it´s limit. And even though it´s a great looking game, you can tell that the 360 is beginning to struggle as there are GFX details popping in and out and framerate drops here and there. Still an awesome game. But Killzone 2 is even better looking, without any drops in framerate and pop-ins, and really are beginning to show what the PS3 is capable of.
I own and love BOTH consoles, but I´m leaning more and more towards my PS3

So, I doubt this to be true, but not fully because I believe anything is possible, for example Killzone2, but we already know that Uncharted2 surpasses Killzone2 graphically and GodofWar3 may surpasses that if not at least be on the same magnificent level, and then their is Heavy rain. So, its rather subjective to infer that MS will undoubtedly and speedily pull out a game graphically greater than Killzone2, Gears comes nowhere close. Uncharted can even be compared to Gears2 graphically, and thats the first Uncharted which cam out in 07 and thats the 2nd. Gears which came out in 08.
Microsoft, you all need first party help seriously! Don’t go getting “mad” at Sony because they delivered on what that promised. Applaud competition, it’s this reason alone that pushes developers to give us more of what we yearn for: High fidelity gaming and an awsome interactive experience.

The only games they got coming out in the next coming months is halo wars and halo odst. Microsoft is full of it. Those two games do not look nowhere NEAR as impressive as killzone 2 (graphically speaking). But if they do come up with another game that looks great/better than KZ2 i welcome it since i got all 3 systems, and i could use another game to play for my 360.

It’s taken awhile, but the PS3 is finally REALLY putting the heat on the 360. I would expect Microsoft to make these comments though, I mean seriously, would anybody expect them to say “Killzone 2 is awesome, we dont have anything in the pipeline that can compete”?? A 3+ year old system with it’s triple core architecture can’t compete with the PS3. Period. It’s common knowledge that the 360 is pretty much maxed as of Gears 2. There may be a slight bit of room but you won’t see anything that rivals KZ2. The texture space afforded by blu-ray alone solidifys this claim. Nice try MS, it’s funnny watching them they always trying to spin things.
Good! Competition is always good for gaming and for the gamer. If MS comes up with something better than KZ2, then that means Sony needs to step up and do the same.
Who know what still instore with the 360. Remember they said the same of the PSs and it surprised many. Don’t count the 360 out yet. It Sony who now has to make sure that all their games has to look as good or better then KillZone 2. If not gamers are going to think it was a one time thing.
Not shocking MS would make a comment like that. I have both systems and i was using my 360 more at one time but there system is not reliable at all, i’m going on my fourth xbox 360 ELITE in a little over a year, i actually took care of my XBOX better than my ps3 and it has yet to die out on me. MS blows alot of smoke as usual, just like they say oh the elites don’t conk out at a alarming rate which is a lie. Just like right now they are lying. None of there games that they got out now even stand up to uncharted and DON’T even get me started on Metal Gear Solid 4. If you ask me, MGS4 has set the bar high as far as graphics and overall gaming experiance goes. They don’t have games that even match up to them two masterpieces. MS Stop talking and make a reliable system first before you start talking about games that don’t exsist.

The best looking racing game (GT5 Prologue), FPS (Killzone 2), 3rd person (MGS4) and platform game (LittleBigPlanet) are all PS3 exclusives.
Its pretty obvious which console is the more powerful.
Yeah, well, not that I’m into the whole consolewars thing, but like HaterHate said, it’s just ONE game. It’s not going to DESTROY opposing consoles. Neither did the Halo series, even though “so successful”. And why is PS3 so desperate for exclusive games? I mean, I kinda get that feeling pretty often when I read PS3 news. Xbox 360 has quite few exclusives and I think it’s a GOOD thing. Gamers should UNITE, not fight. If more people get to play good games, it’s just a plus in my books, coz it keeps the gamers playing

Microsoft will have a game that’ll destroy Killzone 2. Incase anyone hasn’t heard yet, they’re planning on buying out Guerilla Games and getting Killzone 3 on the 360 – or perhaps the next Xbox if the current one can’t handle it….
The one thing that always suprises me about this so-called battle over visual game supremacy is that no one has considered time. Killzone 2 better look better than any other shooter out there for 2 reasons. 1) Has anyone seen the development time for this game, Holy ****, as long as it took, it better look good. They took almost twice as long as the Gears games, so it better look twice as good. Then for the 2) after the first game flopped, Sony probably said, this better be the be-all-end-all for FPS or your out of here,( my personal oppinion) . I really comes down to what developers do with the system. More time means a better game. I would say they could have used that logic for games that were far more promising for the PS3 like Haze the so-called(the Halo killer), Lair, and Socom, etc. The only reason you continually hear LBP, Uncharted, MGS4, and Killzone is because there the only good games for that console. It’s to bad too, I think there great games but they don’t necessitate a 500 dollar system. I went over to my brothers house to check out Killzone 2 on his PS3, it looks great, but after the ooes and aahhs we popped in COD4 on the 360, and played the rest of the night. Kinda tells you something doesn’t it…
Well they go on about how easy it is to program for the XBox, well that means one of two things; Easy to churn out regular crappo with little effort or you hit the wall way,way before it’s time.(which is one of the MAIN reason M$ buy-out devs for DLC, they have NOTHING else; Blu-Ray movies for eg)
On the other hand, the PS3 requires skilled coders and a lot of work to get the most out of it’s CPUs. That means when we get the likes of Uncharted2,MotorStorm 2, Killzone2 which are in their infancy and therefore more and more titles will come out BETTER than the last. This means a longer product life.
The tank section in KZ2 (effects) is quite honestly better than anything produced on PC, never mind next gen console!!

Have people ALREADY forgotten what they do EACH year…they wait until March and announce a ton of exclusives, then dominate the game sales charts the rest of the year.
Killzone 2 doesn’t even come close to the top 20 Shooters of all time let alone the top 10 the past two generations.
The multiplayer is HORRID too if you’ve been playing first person shooters as long as I have. (gaming since the early ’80s too)
Killzone 2 has an awful dead zone, a sluggish pace, an annoying frame rate, and horribly calibrated multiplayer controls. CoD4, L4D, Halo 2/3, Battlefield, etc…etc..are all examples of great multiplayer games with a great feel and responsiveness.
After a weekend of KZ2, beating the single player, and hours of multi…I’m sticking to CoD and my other good shooters online.
there are two not yet announced fps games 1 1st party and one 3rd party.
both slated for a late 2009- mid 2010 release.
this is not a set release yet a target release.
both bringing new tech to the genra when they come out. i have seen the unfinished third party game. and i’ll say right now when finished i think kz2 will have something to worry about.

Though I agree with many of the above your comments, I can’t help but feel this constant striving for graphical one-up-manship is both a waste of time and patheticall childish. Killzone, though technically a marvel is a really average game to play with uninspired art direction and locations and utterly abysmal control set-up. If more time was spent making games fun, or indeed interesting to play, then mass disapointment that a game like Killzone 2 creates can be side stepped.

At the end of the day graphics dont mean anythink. Its all about the enjoyment you get out of a game. Thats why xbox is better, its just more fun.And because of xbox live it destroys the ps atm. Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 1 & 2, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Uncharted, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue(which is nothing compared to what the finished game will be like), plus more. And with games like God of War, MAG, and Uncharted 2 coming out soon, how does that PS3 not have good games. Plus most other games that 360 has (COD series, Resident evil, etc), the PS3 has as well.
So you X box losers, have fun buying another 360, because i know you will pretty soon from now.

The 360 has a flexible hardware and definite a strong gpu but ms has made poor choices in titles the fact that most 360 had “RROD” that don’t mean that graphics are garbage or inferior to sony. I lean more to sony but i own all the consoles and i give credit when credit is do and the GEARS series have all the aspects of gaming.Fanboys need to understand that 360 is indeed a gaming console like the sony ps3 and bashing one to another is stupid. Now giving credit to the 360 just like the ps3 has a huge potential and i do know that needs to be tap but in certain titles it’s been showing like killzone2. Well i admit i´m an playstation guy. But really people isn´t the overall quality of the games theese days just…really freakin good? I for one almost have a hard time seeing any difference. though i was spawned in the seventies so maybe i get impressed easily. However ,and this is to my fellow playstation nuthugger ou there, graphics is far from everything. I really hope that Sony get this baby rolling cus the price is as much an issue ,if not more so, as the initially bad hardware quality the Xbox once suffered. See this is what I don’t like about players and “some” games now days. Is graphics really what a game is all about? I still play Mario Bros. 3 and because it doesn’t look like next gen games does it make it bad? I rather have 6 games that are fun with bad graphics than to have 1 good game with awesome graphics.
I love both consoles, but I end up playing 360 more than either one. I don’t see microsoft having anything graphically better than any high end PS3 game, but in the end does it really matter. I mean most mmo’s have horrible graphics but people still play them?

Isn’t the Xenos far more powerful in graphics then the RSK. So isn’t hands on that the 360 has better graphics and if a Sony official said Killzone 2 only used up 60% of RSK compacity. Just imagine what Microsoft capability as far as graphics go. I for 1 do believe if Microsoft claims to have something to introduce in graphic far more better then Killzone 2. I’m willing to embrace in what they have to say.

I Slept with both consoles last night… The PS3 was the man.
Now with all of the comments said,Here’s some food for thought. I work for a gaming store. I own all 3 next gen consoles.Now comparing the Ps3 and the 360 is like comparing apples to oranges. There’s alot of pro’s and cons to either system. But i have to say from what ive seen is that game exclusives titles from gears to Kz2.The ps3 hasnt even pushed its limits at all. Most of there games are on 720p.What favors the ps3 is the blu ray games which holds alot more content and data. up to 50gigs vs 360′s 8.6 gigs. that being said prime example metal gear solid uses 49.9 gigs of data. If it does come to the 360 (which is still a rumor) it would take a minimum of 6 to 7 disc’s and most of the data would be compressed in order for it to fit.This is why the ps3 will have the better graphic’s. Also the next big deal is that blu ray’s will be a quad layer for 100 gig’s in the near future.Rumor has it that a firmware update will allow ps3 to use it.Again it’s rumored.so expansion on the ps3 is very very possible.Now i love both system’s personally.But the advantages to using the ps3 besides blu ray is that everything is bluetooth.Hence why the system is so expensive.xbox has the superior service of xbox live.There’s no denying that.But your paying for the server’s to run perfect.now hardware wise. the ps3 is superior. never get a return on a ps3.But the cost is very expensive.xbox is cheaper but were always getting returns for the red issue.along with other issues as well.But again games wise xbox has the most games out there with exclusive titles as well.Cross console games there’s not much difference in them usually. GRAFFICS
This is a sticky subject for a lot of fanboys. A very common argument in most flame wars is that the Playstation 3 simply “has better graphics”. I’m not sure where that argument came from; Sony obviously did a good job of marketing the system. However, the argument is entirely false. The Xenos GPU on the XBOX 360 is superior the RSX on the PS3. This is one thing that didn’t change in the past year.
Xenos simply has more power – higher fillrate, higher pixel processing power, higher vertex processing power, and better memory architecture. If you look at multiplatform games and contrast the graphics on the two consoles, XBOX 360 almost always leads. Whether they use a higher resolution or higher quality antialiasing, games often look better and/or play smoother on the 360. We looked at a handful of multiplatform games a while back, and this was always the case.
Adrian is right about both consoles having thier consoles having thier pro’s and con’s. It does come mainly to personal preferance. It is a fact that the ps3 is more powerfull but that most multi platform games are better on xbox. I personally prefer my ps3 over my 3rd xbox which im selling. GoW2 is good and so is KZ2 i prefer KZ2 it looks and plays better.
It’s possible that Microsoft is intentionally rolling with the punches right now, considering they have a thin lineup for ’09. I believe, and hope, that Microsoft has decided to keep hush about several AAA titles in development, as in, they’re not even going to show them at E3. I’m not sure if any of them can compete with KZ2 in terms of graphics, but there are some very factual reasons to hope they can. The first is that the Xenos is very much superior to the PS3′s RSX, and the 360′s unified multithreaded cores put PS3′s independent RISC cells to shame. We have yet to actually see the 360 hardware properly challenged. Many Sony fanboys say that the 360 hardware was maxed out with Gears2. This argument is invalid because the fact is that the Unreal Engine 3 is a ten year old, very inefficient engine that does not come close to optimizing on the 360s strengths. Also, MS has yet to introduce a propreitary engine this generation that is built from the ground-up for the 360. If and when that happens, you will see a new wave of graphical prowess from the 360. All those frame rate drops and texture pop-ins and screen tearing are not a result of the 360 hardware, but issues with the outdate Unreal 3 Engine. Of course, none of this matters because as long as Sony continues to strive for better performance with the PS3, and as long as Microsoft sits on its hands and refuses to shell out some cash and resources to develop a powerful game engine, Sony will proceed to dominate in the graphics department.
The only reason in the begining I got an xbox 360 was because I swapped my psp and playstation 2 games, at the time I got enough money from both to trade towards an xbox 360, oh I play games to enjoy the gameplay, remember wehn pro evo was superior over fifa because of its gameplay. So dont give me crap about how killzone needs 40 gigabytes, because of all the graphics in the game, maybe people want to play games because of the gameplay and not just graphics. I have a friend who has a playstation 3 and plays both fifa 09 on both platforms(ps3 and xbox 360), he said that xbox 360 is better of the two. Playstation 3 maybe have slighlty better of the two but in my opinion I want a ps3 but I dont like how ps3 think there better because they put more graphics in a game. I play my xbox 360 on a normal 14 inch tv and love every min on my xbox. Maybe sony should think that xbox 360 has a wide range of games to choose from far more than ps3 anyway, so until ps3 slash there price I will stick to cod4, cod waw, gears of war 2, fallout 3, fable 2, halo 3, gta 4, and far more games on my xbox 360 which offers maybe the same has ps3 does. ps. ps3 cost too much and offers nothing as far as games are concerned. I didn’t think KZ2 looked any better then Gears 2. It’s all a matter of opinion. KZ2 hasn’t even sold over 1 million in the U.S. yet. LMAO!! Both Gears 2 and Halo 3 did that on day one. Graphically KZ2 is impressive, but gameplay wise it’s no better then Gears, Halo 3 or CoD 4/WaW. Resident Evil 5 looks better on the XBox 360, then the PS3. Come X-Mas it’s not going to matter much anyways as the PS3 will still be dead last in hardware and software sales. You fools are stupid if you think the XBox 360 is maxed out. Graphics is only 1/4 of a game which is while KZ2 isn’t leagues ahead of any of the other shooters. Most of the multiplate games look better on the XBox 360.

Now I’ve bought myself red elite XBOX. Fun = 10/10!! The question is… WHY DO I WANT DO BUY PS3? I’ve got money – that’s not a problem. Because of Little big planet? Killzone 2? wow so many playstation fanboys responding to the article. You guys do not understand that its not just the hardware that determines how well the game runs, plays, looks, its also the software. I don’t care how much better the graphics could be on ps3 over 360. The few games it has still blow. I miss my ps3 for one game. Mgs4. Simply for the awesome gameplay. 360 is where it’s at. First off, you must be a dumba** to think that Sony managed to pull off some amazing things with their games, their games are all the same, FPSs that don’t change much. As far as graphics, the PS3 barely surpasses the Xbox 360, so why argue about the graphics, and when it comes to playing a game, why are you busy staring at the “pretty” particle effects when you’re supposed to be playing a game, not watching a game. Microsoft also managed to put all these games of equal greatness to the PS3′s games in terms of hardware, on smaller discs. If the Xbox 360 ever needed ~50 GB of space for a game it’ll greatly surpass that of the PS3 by far. As for me, when it came down to which console to buy, I bought the Xbox 360 because it was available for me at the time, plus a whole lot cheaper, so that instantly brought me to it. Overall, neither of the two can ever top the PC so don’t ever claim that the PS3 is the best gaming system ever, the PC owns both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 combined.

The 360 has that many players subscribed to Live. You show me a day when I go to my friends house and they are playing PS3 online and then i’ll think about endorsing the PS3. They will never be able to make a game such as Killzone 2 for the Xbox 360 let alone make one that surpasses it for multiple reasons.
1. The issues that the Xbox 360 has.
2. It uses standard DVD’s instead of Blu-ray disks. Space is a vital role, because you need a lot of space to make the game more detailed, realistic, graphically better, longer, etc. And we all know that DVD’s can’t hold much where as Blu-ray disks hold up to 50 GB of space!
3. Last but not least, the Xbox 360 is just not as powerful as the Playstation 3. You need power to run a ‘powerful’ game.
360 owners…don’t get your hopes up, what they say will never happen, it never has anyways.
actually, razorclipz, you need all that extra blu-ray space for static memory dumps to speed up load times since blu-ray seek times are so low … not to mention the supposed “uncompressed audio” people have _finally_ stopped talking about like it’s the Messiah … PLEASE get over the misconception that disc storage capacity has ANYTHING to do with making a game “more detailed, realistic, graphically better, longer, etc.” — PLEASE … get one thing straight – games (all software applications running on all platforms for that matter) run from _memory_ … not from _discs_ … information is loaded FROM the disc INTO memory (be it ram, vram, etc.) you can dump / cache memory onto an HDD for faster swapping (or, in blu-ray’s case, burn it directly to the disc), but it still has to be loaded into memory before it “does” anything … that’s the “graphics” (models, textures, etc.), audio, game logic (AI, etc.), input handling, everything … since the ps3 does NOT have 50GB of memory (enough to load an entire dual layer blu-ray), the fact that the disc can hold 50GB is completely irrelevant in terms of how the game looks, plays, or sounds – in fact it has 256MB of system RAM, and 256MB of video ram, while the xbox360 has 512MB shared uniformly between system and video, which equates to the same 256MB sys / 256MB video … saying nothing of the relative strengths / weaknesses between the different memory _architectures_ in use, both systems are capable of calling upon the same _amount_ of graphical, audio, and game logic information at any given time
is the ps3 comprised of “more powerful” hardware? certainly. but just look at how differently, for example, “the orange box” runs on the two consoles … was it a bad port job? Yes. is that the ps3′s fault? No. but it proves that ‘powerful’ hardware is nothing without good software, and neither blu-ray nor a spec sheet does ANYTHING intrinsically to make a game better … and as far as storage capacity … maybe i can play a 5 billion hour long rpg on a single disc with the ps3 … but seriously … swapping a disc every 4 or 5 DAYS …? is that REALLY a big deal? have you ever played more than one game in the span of, say, a week? if so, then you’ve probably gotten up off the couch and swapped a disc … talk to me when the _entire_ ps3 library is on a _single_ disc, then you can make the “no disc-swapping with blu-ray” argument, ok?

I’m not a console guy, but I do see this discussion about the best console everywhere. I saw the technicals detail of both consoles, and if I gonna be impress by one, it will be the 360 for it GPU which is far superior since it has 48 unified shaders, same technology present in high end video cards and can do 4x anti-aliasing with no effort, its CPU is not bad, 3 cores each with 2 threds so is like having a 6 cores CPU, got a phenomenal bandwidth and a superset of Direct 9.0c/shader model 3.0 and surface tesselation. The Ps3 GPU is not as good, it actually is an old 7800GT, 8 vertex shaders by 24 pixels shaders, not unified; yes its CPU or cell processor is good with 8 synergistic processing elements, only 7 are working since # 8 is reduntant to improve yield, from those 7 “cores”, 1 is for the OS and finally 6 for use on games and not to improve graphics quality but for physics and certain calculations, same thing with the “6 cores” in the 360 CPU. Blu Ray does not make games look better, is just a new optical storage medium that can store large amount of data, up to 50 GB in dual layer, I haven’t see a game that big. So in my opinion the best console that have the best opportunity to improve graphics is the 360, of course, it will reach its limit sometime in the future, but not before the PS3 since this one has less graphic library and by this I mean Direct 9.0 superset and shader model 3.0 and tessellation and yes, a less powerful GPU. But this is just my opinion, it dose not matter for fans of the PS3 anyway, computer games look way better.
I agree I own both consoles and Killzone 2 is not impressive to me at all. If any of you played PC games, you would know you cant do more than your graphics card. The 360 has a superior graphics card, the PS3 cell does not power graphics.That is the reason all graphics comparisons between the too look sharper on the 360 and you dont have to install the game or anything.Its not because of the devs that excuse is over after 3 years.I downloaded PS3 demos and you have to install them too.My PS3 constantly switches output to my TV to 720P and sometimes 480P on a demo. My 360 outputs 1080P all the time.Like I said I have both consoles on the same tv with HDMI and the only people who think PS3 graphics are better are people who havent seen the XBOX360 versions.Oh and XBL is far superior to PSN.On XBL you can cross game chat.
exkal1bur, you are a moron. You don;t know anything at all about hardware. You do not understand how the ps3 functions nor do you understand the basics of processing. Infact, ps3′s cell processor is fully capable of processing graphics and it does just that. The reason cross console games dont do that is because they arent programmed to use the cell processor. You should avoid talking in public as you are clearly a retard.
As for this nonsense comment by microsofts jealous press factory, this comment was made in march of this year. It isalmost christmas and I have still not seen a word about an xbox game that looks anywhere near as good as gears of war or killzone. microsoft is all talk all the time
Well, a few months has more than passed, this Microsoft comment has to be classed as an epic fail, only the PS3 has produced games that have managed to surpass Killzone 2 thus far for graphical and technical quality.
Oh so the reason the Gaystation sucks is because of programmers, that argument should be gone now 4 years after that piece of shit released. How about the largest game release of the decade Modern Warfare 2 selling 2:1 on Xbox360.How about the Modern Warfare servers crashing on day one on PSN what a joke. Xbox 360 day one had 1.5 million users on Modern Warfare 2 and it worked flawlessly.How about all the features they bite off Microsoft Netflix,Facebook, Achievements(trophies) and who knows what next.Probably should be the controller though since there using that same uncomfortable controller for like 15 years now.
I totally agree with exkal1bur, the processing power is the same on both machines. However if your graphics card cant push it thats it. I also think its so funny that all the PS3 fanboys say is “well at least we dont get rrod”. Wrong you get YLOD LOL.
Sounds Like sour grapes to me, all I know is that when someone comes round my house that is not a gamer and wants to see what the next-gen fuss is about it is the PS3 that gets powered up not my 360. Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2 is first on show then followed by some Little Big Planet for co-op online fun, always a winner.

Unless any of you people are currently programming a game for any of the current systems, then you have no knowledge as to what the technological limit is to either of these systems. The graphics and games will always get better and better until each system is replaced and I doubt there will ever be much of a difference between ps3 and 360 anyways.
Well the 360 is inferior for the simple reason of Microsoft wanted it out as soon as possible to make as much money as possible, and they did, alot of PS2 players went “Oooh shiny new harware with better graphics”, and microsoft have payed the price (they have fallen behind in there technology war with sony) and until the 8th Xbox comes out microsoft will stay behind, and i am not being biased, as a matter of fact i own both and i hold preference over neither, i regard the PS3 a hardcore gaming console and the 360 is a console for people who like to play fifa with there mats and chat casually with friends. But microsoft are eventually go get ahead with the 8th gen xbox, which will make games superior to killzone 3 using less than there supposed 65% power, and so the technology will continue
