Only if the premise on which Dead Space is set wasn’t so exhilarating – pun intended!, we would have seriously appreciated the Animated feature that was being made for the game. Basically, The Dead Space story line focuses on events on board a futuristic mining spaceship after it pulls a mysterious artifact from a dig site, triggering the invasion of an alien presence. We sense Déjà vu, Doom 3 anyone ?
Surprisingly, Dead Space also has a comic dedicated to it which is spanning over six issues. The Dead Space animated movie tells the story after the events that happened in the Comics. It seems, EA is trying too hard to justify the story and prove that it ain’t Doom 3 all over again, the only difference is that Dead Space is in Third Person View. We can hope for the best that EA has something juicy up it’s sleeve and another “Been There Done that” Game.
EA stressed that, in the future more Movies are going to be released which will be based on their Games. Dead Space executive producer Glen Schofield commented, “We are really excited to be working with Film Roman to create an animated feature that will tell the portion of the Dead Space saga between the comic and game,. With the video game, comic book and now animated movie, Dead Space has become a true multimedia brand. Each of these elements delivers the story to new audiences and tells it from different aspects and perspectives.”
