Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 Graphics Cards Launched

We so often hear of new computer hardware which further increases the visual experience, be it gaming or multimedia. Now here’s something that should come as great news to every PC gamer: Nvidia has launched its new flagship line of graphics processors, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 and the GeForce GTX 470.

The top-of-the-line GPU, the GTX 480, was designed specifically to deliver the industry’s most potent “tessellation” performance. This is a key component of Microsoft’s DirectX 11 platform for PC games, and allows game developers to make full use of the GTX 480’s ability to deal with increasingly complex geometric models and characters. This ensures much more realistic gaming environments.

“The GeForce GTX 480 is something we’ve been eagerly anticipating,” Mike Angiulo, general manager of Windows planning and PC ecosystem at Microsoft commented. “Microsoft designed Direct X11 for Windows 7 with native support for GPGPU, tessellation, and improved multi-threading. Nvidia clearly embraced this and designed the GTX 480 with a scalable tessellation architecture in a multi-core environment to bring game development to a new level. And, we think developers will be impressed to see how they can truly take advantage of the power of DX11 to create compelling games, as well as multimedia applications.”

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 has architecture which allows for unparalleled gaming performance at maximum resolution even for the latest DirectX 11 games. Its new PolyMorph Engine is capable of processing scalable geometry makes for extremely detailed game characters and terrain. The GPU enables interactive ray tracing for extremely realistic scenes. Its 3D Vision Surround technology gives the gamer a very immersive experience across three monitors in full stereoscopic 3D. The GTX 480 also has Nvidia PhysX technology performance and the next generation Cuda architecture, also offering full support for GPU computing under Windows 7.

The GTX 480 and GTX 470 and the first products in Nvidia’s Fermi line of consumer products and will be available in mid-April. Additional products in the GeForce 400-series lineup will be announced in the coming months.
