Need for Speed Franchise sells 100 Million Copies

Need for Speed Shift is the latest title in the NFS franchise and has been quite well received by fans and critics. Now Electronic Arts has announced that according to internal EA data, the Need for Speed franchise has sold over 100 million units in its lifetime to date. In addition, the Need for Speed franchise has grossed more than 2.7 billion US dollars in life-to-date sales, making it the best-selling video game under the racing badge.

100 Million NFS Copies Sold

“Few videogame franchises ever reach the 100M units mark, so this is a huge honor. We have millions of fans to thank for driving us to this milestone,” stated Frank Gibeau, president, EA Games Label. “With the launch of Need for Speed Shift and the upcoming release of Need for Speed Nitro, we hope to continue to deliver the most entertaining, action-packed racing experiences.”

The long standing franchise has seen 15 titles on over 14 platforms, and it has been released in 22 languages and in over 60 countries around the world. Two more Need for Speed titles are expected out soon, Need for Speed Nitro for the Nintendo DS and Wii, and Need for Speed World Online for the PC.
