Everybody is waiting in eager anticipation of the latest in the Halo franchise, ‘Halo Wars’ which is just a couple of weeks from being released. Meanwhile Microsoft Corporation, via their licensing agent Twentieth Century Fox L&M, is set to uncover an all new toy line-up for the Halo franchise at Toy Fair.

USAopoly and Mega Brands partner up with Fox L&M to be part of the Halo franchise for the first time.

Commenting on this, Michael Peikoff, Senior VP, US licensing for Fox L&M said, “‘Halo’ has become much more than a video game franchise, it’s a true entertainment franchise. Our goal is to add value to this intellectual property by extending it with blue chip partners whose interpretation of the brand is seamless and will be embraced by the legion of fans worldwide.”

USAopoly will merge old and new game styles mixing Halo Wars story with the classic Hasbro board game Risk. The game will be available in the spring or summer of 2009 uniting the fundamentals of the two strategy games. The Halo Wars rivals will meet to battle it out in a winner-take-all domination battle of Arcadia.

MEGA Brands is going to make the construction toy sets based on Halo Wars which will be available in the fall of 2009. This toy consists of play-sets which can be built from a variety of pieces. McFarlane Toys will release all new Halo Wars toys in March 2009 consisting of Halo action figures. McFarlane Toys had previously released Halo 3 figures in 2008.

“Halo Wars” is a strategy action game developed by the recently dissolved Ensemble Studios. The Halo series on the whole has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide.

Halo players who pre-order Halo Wars will receive a warthog with a flame paintjob. Also a Limited Collector’s Edition will be available which include a graphic novel, an in-game ‘Honour Guard’ Wraith, six Leader Cards and a ‘Spirit of Fire’ patch as well as access to the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack for new multiplayer battle.
