Independent Indian Developer GameShastra Makes the Jump to Publisher, Announces 12 New Games

Indian video game developer GameShastra, based in Hyderabad, India, has been at the helm of outsourcing services, having worked on titles from Activision, Ubisoft, Sony Computer Entertainment and Revolution Software among others. Now GameShastra has announced a move which will see it leap from independent developer to publisher, and has revealed its forthcoming line-up of titles for the PSP Go, WiiWare, PC and Mac.

Over the course of the next few months, the company has 12 new titles which will be released across various formats. GameShastra already has D-Cube Planet and Circles for the PSP Go, which can be availed of by visiting the PlayStation Store.

“This is an exciting time in the evolution of GameShastra,” said Prakash Ahuja, CEO of GameShastra. “The move into self-publishing is a logical step for us, and we’re already working with some significant players in the games industry to bring a host of original and licensed titles across multiple formats. 2010 will see GameShastra become one of the most significant publishers in the business, and we can’t wait to enter what will undoubtedly be the biggest period in the firm’s history.”

The games scheduled to be published by the company for the PSP include Deflector, Crime Spree, Bee Wars, Route 66, Pachisi, Tiger Trouble, Tumble Bugs 2 and Flick Sports Fishing, all of which are scheduled to release before the end of the year. In addition to these, next March on the PlayStation Store, GameShastra will have Arcade Hoops and World Cup Table Tennis.

Coming in early 2010 for the WiiWare will be the cricket simulation title Balle Baaz, while in January next year we can expect the casual hidden object game Taj Mahal, for the PC and Mac.
