Havok Expands Partnership with Capcom

Havok, an Irish computer software company, has announced that it has signed a noteworthy deal with Capcom, to make the Havok Physics engine, its development tool of choice when it comes to game physics. Capcom has apparently licensed Havok Physics for two of its most anticipated titles, Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. The physics solution was also utilized in recent titles from the developer, including Dead Rising, Lost Planet, and Resident Evil 5.

Havok Physics was easily integrated into Capcom’s existing game development pipeline and we believe these triple-A projects will showcase the unparalleled flexibility and robustness of Havok Physics.”

Havok’s support and documentation sets the gold standard in the industry,” commented Jun Takeuchi, General Manager of Research and Development Strategic Planning Department, Consumer Games Research and Development Division of Capcom. “After a comparison with other companies’ products, we valued the superiority of Havok and adopted its software.”

David O’Meara added, “Havok’s Tokyo-based office will ensure a successful relationship by providing Capcom with not only our state-of-the-art physics solution, but with experienced and personalized language and cultural technical support and customer service.”

Havok Physics is a real time collision detection and physics simulation solution. It has been featured in over 200 games and will be featured in more than 65 titles releasing this year.
