Payday 3 has been confirmed

Starbreeze Studios has just revealed the existence of Payday 3 while confirming that all rights of the Payday franchise now reside with it rather than with publisher 505 Games. Unfortunately no real details about the third entry to the popular franchise seem to be available at the moment.

Actually, Payday 2 was found mentioned in a note that announced that the rights of the franchise have been bought by Starbreeze Studios. It says that 505 Games will get a 33 per cent revenue share of net revenues from upcoming sales of Payday 3 which have been capped at about $40 million.

Starbreeze Studios has purchased these rights to the Payday franchise at $30 million. It has also been mentioned that its Overkill arm will continue to develop content for Payday 2 for at least another 18 months. This means that the first-person shooter will be active until the end of 2017.

Additionally, it has been confirmed that the microtransactions feature from Payday 2 is on its way out. Overkill has said that the black market section of the game is being made free for everyone. The introduction of this trait had angered the fans a lot earlier this year, and this is hence a great piece of news for them.

Like we said, there are practically no details available about Payday 3, apart from the fact that it exists. We’ll have more on it as soon as additional information is out.
