Battlefield 5 to be set during World War 1?

EA has already confirmed that we’ll be treated to Battlefield 5 this year itself, and a new leak has not only revealed its apparent release date but also its setting. A retailer has put a listing for the game, saying that it will be set during World War I and will be launched for the PS4, the Xbox One and PC on October 26.

The retailer in question is a Swiss one named WOG, which is short for World of Games. The listing is basically a placeholder with no box art to show at the moment. The description of Battlefield 5 on the website reads ‘Multiplayer tactical shooter’ which is worrying for single-player fans.

Interestingly, the listing on WOG still hasn’t been taken down. A World War 1 setting will be a great change for the series which has been dishing out modern day war offerings since a very long time. Battlefield 1942, the first main game from the series was set during World War II, but following that, never has a mainstream entry taken the same route.

The last title to be outed under the series was Battlefield Hardline which was more of a spin-off to the main titles. It’s a first-person shooter focusing on crime, heist and policing elements instead of military warfare. Apart from the PS4, the Xbox One and PC, it was also released for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
