Battleborn gets a release date

Battleborn, a first-person shooter being developed by Gearbox Software has been promised a release date of February 9, 2016. This news has come straight from its publisher 2K Games’ mouth, which has also said that an open beta will be held for it priror to its actual launch.

At this year’s Gamescom, Battleborn’s developers took the veil off four new characters that will form part of the game. One among them is Amber who happens to be a priestess fighting up close while healing allies. Then there’s Mellka who is an assassin with a nerve gas machine pistol and bio-glaive melees.

Another fresh character is named Reyna but is also known as ‘The Valkyrie.’ He will use a laser pistol and a command glove for support. Lastly, there’s Benedict, an Aviant who relies on flying, rocket jumping and other aerial antics.

Battleborn

Just like games from Gearbox Software’s extremely popular Borderlands series, Battleborn will feature multiplayer co-op support. You’ll be able to play along with five friends online as well as via the split-screen mode, albeit the latter will limit just two players on each screen.

You’ll be able to play the campaign alone, whereas three different competitive multiplayer modes will be thrown at your disposal as well. This game happens to be an amalgam of first-person shooter and MOBA gameplay genres. It is being built using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 technology, and will be made available for the PS4, the Xbox One as well as PC the day when it’s released.
