Call of Duty: Ghosts release date revealed along with live-action trailer

Along with showcasing the game, Activision has also gone to disclose the Call of Duty: Ghosts release date which has been set by it for November 5. Rumors about this title had been making the rounds since quite a long time now, and its name as well as box art were already out in the open prior to the publisher actually revealing it.

Only a few details have been disclosed as of now, as the first look of this shooter will be unveiled only on May 21, at Microsoft’s Next Xbox event. For now, it has been confirmed for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and ‘next generation platforms.’ Activision hasn’t said anything about a possible Wii U version as yet.

Under development from Infinity Ward, this offering is all set to put forth an all-new gameplay experience, according to its maker. It will be built around an entirely new story, and will not have any connections with either the Modern Warfare or the Black Ops franchises. A new setting and fresh characters will be introduced by the game, and it will be created using a new next generation CoD engine which is of course built for future platforms.

Infinity Ward is the same studio that gave us the first ever CoD title back in 2003. And it had followed it up with a number of other offerings from the series which include Modern Warfare games as well. Referring to the latter, Mark Rubin, who’s the executive producer at Infinity Ward, mentioned that Modern Warfare 4 is what everyone was expecting the developer to make, and doing the same would have been ‘the safe thing to do.’

However, Rubin insists that Infinity Ward doesn’t want to rest on its laurels. According to him, the console transition is a ‘perfect opportunity’ for the studio to mark the beginning of a new CoD chapter, complete with a fresh sub-brand, a new engine and other new ideas and experiences.
